JC's Stance on AI in the Arts
How do we define AI?
AI in the context of the arts is any artificial intelligence thing that is used to make, copy/clone, or replace humans. We will refer to the artistic umbrella as "artistic assets". This includes making any kind of imagery (visuals, art), audio (sound, music, sfx), any writing (scripts, story ideas, story or chapter drafts, lyrics, poetry, blog posts...) any kind of "model" (realistic human, cartoon human), or any other artistic/creative thing (video games, photography) in place of a human.
AI doesn't include tools to help a human tweak, edit, or perfect a thing, such as Spell Check in Word, Grammarly, or photo-editing tools in PhotoShop.
Our stance on AI in the arts
AI can be very beneficial in certain places and for certain things (like assisting physicians with surgery or detecting diseases before humans can), but we don't agree that it should be used in the arts. If JC hosts or produces content of our own, we will not use AI AT ALL.
However, we also aren't here to police people. We will only ban people (talent & talent seekers) from JC's website if they
- lie and deceive talent in regards to AI,
- use AI for the majority or for all of their project(s), or
- take talent assets without contracted/written and provable permission (agreements) between the talent and project lead(s) and use those talent assets to make AI models/clones or to load the talent's assets into an AI prompt machine that will make variations of the talent's art or clones of their voices.
We at JC intend to protect all members the best we can against such immoral theft, usury, and unethical persons. However, we will not get between a talent and the talent seeker with signed contracts.
In summary: Please just tell your talent or involved parties upfront in your production if and how you're using AI.
If someone on JC's website has deceived someone or broken a contract in regards to AI, please fill out this form and we will look into the claims as soon as we're able. Thanks.
All form submissions are saved in our website's local database. This ensures that even with the potential risk of a submission not coming through to our email, we have a local copy in our website. Rest assured, your report will get to us!
